Lost Writers Answer Questions

I know, I know. Another post related to TV...

In a recent set of long-winded interviews, the writers of Lost have been taking fan questions and answering them to the best of their ability. There are no big spoilers here, but there are definitely some answers on what to expect in Season 4, as well as some much-needed clarification on some of the show's loose ends, including the statue pictured above, Libby, the Smoke, and Desmond's abilities. Here are answers worth reading:

Q. "Is the four-toed statue related to an ancient culture on the Island?"

A. The origin of the statue will be discussed in season 4 and many people will figure out what it means and how it got there.

Q. "Is there more to Danielle Rousseau's story?"

A. Yes. There is a lot more to Rousseau, and some stuff she states may not actually be true, but in the upcoming season we will drop hints on what she's been up to on the island before and after the crash.

Q. "Did Desmond really travel back in time or was it some sort of Island-induced vision?

A. Desmond did really travel back in time.

Q. "Was Cindy (the flight attendant) a plant on the plane, or did she join the Others after the crash?"

A. You will get an answer to that question in Season 4.

Q. "Why is Hugo's nickname 'Hurley'?

A. You'll find out in his next flashback.

Q. "Is Christian Shepherd actually dead?"

A. That will be definitively answered in Season 4.

Q. "Has the Smoke Monster ever appeared as Vincent?"

A. I won't answer that but many of us call him the 'dog of doom'.

Q. "What is the relationship between Jacob and the Smoke Monster?"

A. For the people who don't know, it was revealed by the great Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof that 'Cerberus' is another name for The Monster. As for what it is protecting? You will get an answer to that when it appears again. Here is a clue: go back and watch every scene where the monster appears.

Q. "Were any of the characters' parents involved with the Dharma Initiative?"

A. Good question. There is no doubt that some of their parents were connected to Dharma.

Q. "Does Ben share Desmond's foresight? He's always one step ahead of everyone."

A. No.

Q. "Will we ever get more of Libby's story?"

A. She will appear in Season 4.

Q. "Do you still have a plan for the black and white rocks found with the corpses of Adam and Eve?"

A. Yes. The question is when will you find out? This season?

Q. "Why was the ladder broken in the Swan Hatch?

A. Desmond will speak on many things that happened to him after Kelvin died.

That's all for now, but supposedly there's a Part 3 to the interview yet to be released. Only 10 days left until Season 4. Well, half of it at least.
