'The Office' Goes Latino

I'm not kidding: BBC Worldwide Americas has licensed "The Office" for a local remake in Chile.

Why? Who knows. According to Carmen Gloria Lopez, who's in charge of Canal 13-Chile, "From watching 'The Office,' we realized very quickly that the working day in Chile is actually very similar to office life in the U.K. and America. Our production will show you we have more in common than you might think."

Really? I wonder if Michael, Jim, and Pam...I mean Miguel, Jaime, and Pamela...will take siestas every episode. Will they still have meetings at Chili's? Are there Chili's in Chile?

In case you didn't know, there have been British, American, Canadian (La Job), French,(Le Bureau), and German (Stormberg) versions of The Office with the same characters, but completely different casts. Creepy.

On an unrelated note, I've added excerpts from my novels to the blog. Just click "My Novels" on the right.
